The faithful servant’s wife hath died.

Casseroles and apple pies.

The ticket to his heart they said.

So the women came and that they did.

Each day the callers came to ring

The stable doorbell, despite death’s sting.

Maria was the one he chose.

One door opened, another closed.

Some said it’s what what a woman should do

To win the heart of a man like you.

But my Titus ladies gave me the key

For a man like that to see a girl like me.

A forgotten wife from my cheerful youth

A queen in hiding if you knew the truth.

Born, not to bake, nor to fuss and fight,

God gave me the pen and His power to write.

So how can it be? A man I’ve never met

Sets my heart on fire with a thought and yet

Should we never meet, the Lord has said, “It’s time.

You have shed your grief and I have called you mine.”

In the mornings when I hear your Word,

Maybe I don’t feel so absurd.

For you said, “Delight in me, Daughter of the King.

You’ll have your heart’s desire, I’ll give you everything.”

Speak over me Lord, as I present my list,

The Impossible Match, I named “A Man Like This”

Who’s been waiting beyond my time of loss,

Failure crucified before the Cross.

An athlete and scholar of noble intellect,

A dancer who’s brave, a kind man of introspect.

Opening my mind to places I’ve never trod,

Tall, but not too tall, nothing is impossible with God.

Dusky skin, white teeth, my tender lover,

One who makes me laugh and lets me discover

The mysteries of the kingdom and he let’s me fly

In your image, he shepherds when my heart asks, “Why?”.

A provider and a friend who would cling to me

More than worldly riches, in Your Presence be.

Unbound and free to take steps forward.

One thing required, he must belong to You, Lord.

Wisdom and love, coffee or fine wine,

His friendship is steady and gives me peace of mind.

The lady of his house and a lifetime of bliss,

Only the Potter could make a man like this.
